Prairie State Unit 1 Stator Delivery

The Prairie State Generating Company, LLC (PSGC) moved a piece of large equipment associated with construction of its 1,600 megawatt power plant in Washington County, Illinois on October 5 and 6.

The project is approaching $4 billion, with $1 billion in construction wages and over 2,700 workers at peak construction.  It will provide $785 million in ongoing economic activity for the State of Illinois, including $734 million for the region alone.

PSGC moved the Unit 1 Stator, weighing 443 tons, which is a part of the generator.  It travelled approximately 14 miles, at roughly one mile per hour.  PSGC worked closely with local and state authorities on the timing and execution of this delivery.  All permits regarding this move were issued through the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
